What legal aid is
Legal aid can help you pay for legal advice. You could get:
- advice on your rights and options
- help with negotiations and paperwork
- family mediation to help you agree on money and property when you divorce or separate
- a solicitor or barrister to get your case ready and speak on your behalf in court and some tribunals
There are different legal aid rules in Scotland and different legal aid rules in Northern Ireland.
